Dr.Daniel Rohrer is a board-certified neurosurgeon, practicing in the Portland area since 1994. He treats a variety of complex cranial, spine, and peripheral nerve disorders.  In the outpatient setting, Dr. Rohrer performs a number of minimally invasive spine surgical procedures, including artificial cervical disc replacement and bilateral lumbar decompression through a unilateral approach. These highly successful procedures result in resolution of symptoms with faster recovery, while maintaining spinal function and stability. In addition, Dr. Rohrer is a regional leader in minimally invasive neuroendoscopic brain and skull base surgery. As a Medical Director for Cranial Surgery at the Providence Brain Institute since 2005, Dr. Rohrer has helped develop programs in minimally invasive brain surgery, neuroendoscopy, and intraoperative imaging. Compared to traditional surgeries, these procedures cause less pain, less scarring and less risk of post-operative complications, and result in shorter hospital stays. Dr. Rohrer was the physician champion in obtaining the first high field mobile intraoperative MRI on the west coast.

Dr.Daniel Rohrer obtained his undergraduate degree in neuroscience from the University of Rochester, where he also performed graduate research in neural transplantation. He earned his medical degree from New York Medical College, followed by general surgery training at Cornell University/North Shore University Hospital. He completed neurosurgery residency at Oregon Health & Science University, with neuropathology training at University of Washington. He has performed research in molecular neurobiology and neural transplantation with publications in the journals Cell Transplantation and Gene Therapy.
