Dr. Drexel was born and raised outside of Seattle, Washington. She graduated summa cum laude from Boston University with a bachelor of arts degree in International Relations. She attended medical school at the University of Rochester and graduated with numerous accolades including induction into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. She returned to the northwest for general surgery residency at OHSU. She then completed fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery and flexible endoscopy at University Hospitals in Cleveland. After fellowship, she returned to Portland to join Northwest Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Dr. Drexel is passionate about complex abdominal wall hernia repair and strives to perform minimally invasive hernia techniques to improve patient outcomes. Her other academic interests include endoscopic treatments of the esophagus, stomach, and colon. She is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the Association of Women Surgeons.

Dr. Drexel lives with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys the outdoors, hiking, yoga, and cooking.
